Event Description
For the kickoff to our celebration we will shut down Bedford Row from Prince St to George St and transport two vessels into the street. Two boats will be painted live by three international artists. Matthieu Limo (Paris, France), Aaron Li-HIll (Toronto) and Christian Toth (Halifax/New York) will use a 28 foot long boat as their canvas. A J24 Sailing boat will also receive a new paint job during this event.
In the Ondaatje Courtyard Live music and dance will excite the audience. Featuring Halifax Hip Hop pioneer DJ Jorun. He is considered to be one of the reasons Halifax Hip Hop received national recognition in the early 90s. He has always been a key ingredient to our City's success in the industry.
The Award Winning Hip Hop dance group, The Woods, have created two high energy pieces to be performed throughout the night. Hip Hop band 'The Caravan' will be on stage performing hip hop instrumentals with creative lyricism forming a blend of hip hop that is fresh and fitting for our event atmosphere.
Aritsts from all over Atlantic Canada have submitted applications to participate in the Ondaatje Courtyard and we've received some amazing concepts that will make you appreciate various artforms throughout the night.
